Successful participants will receive a statement of attainment for ‘HAZMAT Response training’ which is nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications framework.

Course Overview

Our HAZMAT response training course is taught by highly experienced instructors who will guide participants through both theory and practical modules to give them the skills, knowledge and confidence to respond to an on-site HAZMAT emergency.

It is designed for everyday workers , along with Emergency Rescue teams, who may be required to respond to hazardous materials incidents in the workplace.

Course Outline
  • HAZCHEM and dangerous goods legislation
  • HAZCHEM incident response protocols and procedures
  • Identify and assess hazards at incident
  • Assist with the development and implementation of a plan for the mitigation of a HAZMAT incident
  • Assist with the review of the plan
  • Identifying and handling hazardous materials
  • Containing and recovering hazardous materials
  • Decontamination
  • Rescue procedures
  • Identify emergency equipment
  • Inspect and assemble emergency equipment
  • Carry out minor servicing of equipment
  • Report and record equipment status

Participant Requirements
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Arrive in appropriate clothing and enclosed footwear

  • PUAFIR215 - prevent injury
  • PUAFIR207B - Operate breathing apparatus open circuit OR MSAPMOHS216A - Operate breathing apparatus
